Turning 1

In a month time, Khadeeja will turn 1 year old. Mummy is heck nervous! I hate the fact that good times flies. So, in preparation for her turning 1, I did (and still doing) some research on what to expect. You know, like food, milk, milestones and things like that.

Khadeeja has been taking S26 formula milk since she was a few days old. Alhamdulillah she has no problem with that milk. So when she turns 7 months old, I decided to change to step 2 milk of the same brand. I wanted to cut some costs as she was already weaned off by then. Getting into 9 months, she started having constipation. Her nanny advised me to give her more water and so I did. She had it for about 3 weeks or so, and suddenly she started to berak cair! It almost seemed like diarrhea but she doesn't poop that often. Still I was worried as her nanny kept mentioning about her stool.

My mom was telling me that it could be because of her milk. But I didn't want to believe her as I thought Khadeeja had no problem taking the milk the first time. If the milk does not suits her, she would've had the problem immediately after taking the milk. Last week, I gave myself a good thought and did a lot of research on whether to change her milk or not. Initially, I wanted to let her try NAN step 2, but after looking at the price I picked Anmum instead. She took it for 1 day and the next day, rashes started to appear on her body. Immediately I knew that it's the reaction towards the milk. Plus, after several feedings, on the second day she refused to drink that milk. Luckily I had some of S26 leftovers and gave her that instead. That itself was a challenge too! She did not want to take her milk I had to put some milk on her nose to encourage her to drink!

Now I'm worried as I have to change her milk in a month time. I've been buying the Dumex Dugro ads hehe. Also, it's so much cheaper than S26. But thinking of her refusal towards other milk, I'll probably stick to S26 but to step 3 instead. Once she'll eat a variety of food and has developed her taste bud then I'll probably change to Dugro. We'll see.

Khadeeja has been sleeping through the night when she was 8 months old. This is something that I'm very proud of as one of my hopes is to make her go to bed as early as possible and to have a proper bed time. I'm quite traditional when it comes to parenting really. I can't stand seeing parents taking their babies out and about after 9pm. Yes, the baby will probably sleeps in her stroller but don't complain that when she becomes a toddler, she refuses to sleep at the right time. I've seen this happen to some friends of mine. They complain that their kids is still up way after midnight and refuse to go to bed. Well, sleep time needs to be trained you know.

As for food, I'm still giving her pureed and mashed stuff although she has been eating some cookies (baby cookies of course). I'm still with the no sugar-salt-MSG policy so she hasn't take any fruit juice or adult food. I'm actually quite clueless thinking of what to cook for her. Well, I want her to try some adult food but then our food has salt so I still have to cook separately for her. Plus, she can't quite chew right so soft and pureed foods are still the best. Tried giving her bread but she still can't chew on bigger pieces. I really hope that she won't become a picky eater.

Other than that, I'm happy with her developments. She still hasn't walk but able to cruise and stand up with ease. She says a few words quite clearly like mamamam (for mummy), dadada (for daddy) and nenenen (for nenen). She's good at imitating sounds for example whenever I say "let's go!" she'll response "tet to!" in exactly the same pitch and intonation hahaha. There's this lullaby that my grandmother used to sing and now my mom and I sing it to her when she's falling asleep. It's just a hummed melody and she is able to hum back! So cute! The most adorable thing is she dah pandai manja with people. When I watch the TV she'll suddenly crawl to me and sondol2 me or whoever she likes (her daddy, maktok and ngangah). She is a joker too! Pandai buat lawak & banyak keletah. Ikut sapa la agaknya hehe..
