Babysitter, babysitter!

I don't know why but for the whole of this week, I'm just soooo lazy to go to the office. It started off on MOnday morning, well the usual MOnday blues I guess. But that morning, I felt so berat hati to send my baby to her nanny's house.

2 days ago I bumped into nanny's eldest daughter and she told me that her mum is in the hospital due to kidney stone! Patutla mummy maca rasa tak sedap hati sebab nanny takde rupanya. But her husband did not tell me anything probably he didn't want us to worry. But now I am worried, dunno how my kid was taken care off for the past few days. Usually, nanny's second daughter is around to help out so I'm not worried so much. Nanny is coming back tomorrow, so this morning tokwan told me that they won't be available tomorrow. So takpela. I've a reason not to go to work hehe.

Talking about babysitter, Alhamdulillah I have no major complain on this one. Someone told me that when we decide to send our kids to the daycare, we must be flexible with how are other people are going to take care of our kids, meaning that, we cannot expect perfection from them. Their way might be different than ours so be it. As long as they do their job sincerely and do no harm to our kids then I'm okay.

When I was in confinement, I had already began to worry about finding a sitter for Khadeeja. Initially, I prefer a sitter who can take care of her alone instead of sending her to the daycare center where there are many kids. I didn't know anyone. One day, an old friend came to visit and she told me that her fiance lives in my neighbourhood so she'll ask him to look around. Coincidently, he has a younger sister so he gave me the phone number of her sister's sitter. I made a call and the sitter asked me to pay a visit when I'm back in KL.

Once I'm back, I went to see nanny with my mum. So we chatted and she told us about her background in babysitting and such. It turned out that she used to work at a daycare center, went for training and such. While we were talking, an older boy came and salam my mum, he even said "Hi Tok Kechik!". Nanny and I were clueless as to who this boy is and how come he knows my mum. My mum told us that he is the grandson of her neighbour in Alor Setar (of course I know this neighbour). He has been staying there along with his siblings for the longest time! And we continued chatting, the nanny then told us that she used to live in Alor Setar and that her husband used to work at JKR. My mum was even more surprised as she works at JKR and knows the nanny's husband. What a small world! And that's how we decided to send Khadeeja there as there is someone that we know already instead of some strangers. So Alhamdulillah...

But I have to bear that this lady takes care of quite a number of kids. So it's actually a daycare center. However, there are a few things that I consider to be ok with this place. Babies there have their own play pen which we bring, meaning that they have their own space. As for me, I always bring home Khadeeja's comforter, pillow case and such for a good wash over the weekend. As for her towels and dirty clothes I bring them home on a daily basis. Since starting solid food, I bring food from home myself. The nanny cooks for the kids there. So far, her nanny will always check with me first before giving anything to her. She even informs me on Khadeeja's behaviour, whether her stools look good or not, if there are rashes here and there and such. Most importantly, I can just drop by her place at any time and her door is always open. To me that's a good sign of showing that she has nothing to hide from the parents.

How that she's sick, I've got to prepare myself for the worst. Who knows if she decides not to babysit anymore! Well, there's a place that my brother sends her kid to which is very nearby. And the fact that Khadeeja is big enough I'm not so worried if I have to send her elsewhere. I'd be devastated though as I'm comfortable with this sitter. Let's just hope for her fast recovery.
