NY sanitation?? wtf!

This is the 3rd time we've been given a ticket for 'not recycling properly'. First time it happened, we didn't really know what or how to recycle. Fine. That's because we're ignorant people, never before we had to do such thing. 2nd time we got fined, is because we put some of the stuff that are not recyclable in the recycle bin. Fine. 

So I checked on the website on how to 'properly' recycle. So freaking tedious. There are so many steps. I remember back in Malaysia (third world developing country), we just have to separate between papers, plastics, cans, and glass. Just put them in different containers and send them to the recycling centre or dump them in those 3-colored bins. See? Easy. But of course, the average Malaysians don't really recycle. What for? We have our DBKL, MPAJ, MBSA, MPSP and what not to pick up just EVERYTHING!

Okay. So I followed the steps on the website. I cleaned everything. Threw the metal and plastic caps in the trash can. I put everything in proper plastic bags. Make sure that the plastic bags are clear so that the sanitization people get to see what's inside. Happy as a clown, I throw everything in the recycling bin. 

And last week, we got another ticket! Well, actually our landlady got another ticket. She was pissed and made us pay for the fine! She told us that glass bottles/jars are not recyclable. Are you kidding me???!!!! I CHECKED ON THE WEBSITE! Glass can be recycled!! I FOLLOWED THE PROPER STEPS! WTF???!!!

I'm so pissed right now! So much for living in the 1st world country! We've not been recycling properly last year (2007) too but we didn't get any ticket until recently (late 2008). Wtf?!
