So the Merdeka Day has passed and people all over Malaysia are still talking about 1Malaysia. I just want to spare my 2 cents here so please ISA, DO NOT ARREST ME.
When the whole 1Malaysia thing came about, I was like,"Wow, a new slogan/concept". Along with the new concept came advertisements, films, songs and what not about 1Malaysia. A lot of people are cherishing the idea but I kinda find it a little funny. So, in ads everywhere nowadays you see Malay, Chinese and Indians smiling together, cooking together, holding hands, singing together, bla bla bla...My point is, why is it always just those three races?? Everyone says that Malaysia is sooooo diverse (which is so not, but New York is) tapi balik2 Cina, Melayu, India. What about the 'Lain-lain'?? I think everyone knows that there are a lot more races and natives here such as Punjab, Siamese, Iban, Negrito, Dayak, etc. So it's not fair to keep potraying that Malaysia only belongs to the three races. Yeah, they're the main races here but isn't it much better to include other races and natives as well, kan?
Itu satu. Satu lagi is that why even bother with the concept in the first place? Malaysia has always been ours and it has always been ONE MALAYSIA. As far as know, we were never separated physically, mentally, socially, economically, psychologically, etc. Well, there are other people out there that thinks oppositely (that Malaysia belongs to ONE group of people) but screw them la! I'm sure there are lot of people who thinks that Malaysia belongs to US equally.
I'm not against it, I just think that it's a joke. Malu kalau orang luar tau yang after 52 years of independence we are still unsure of our nationality.
